Produktbeschreibung
The M3 started its life as a shortened version of the M2105mm field howitzer. It was intended from the start to be used for airborne and jungle operations, so was required to be reasonably light, compact, and easily transportable.
It was mounted on a split trail and the wheel axles could be rotated 180 degrees to allow the trail to sit on the ground and give the gun a more stable firing platform. The gun was mounted on a modified version of the 75mm M1A1 pack howitzer recoil mechanism.
It entered service in 1943 and foremost among those to use it were the US Airborne divisions.
