Robinson Crusoe: Adventure on the Cursed Island - Voyage of the Beagle consists of several linked scenarios for the Robinson Crusoe base game, with the consequences of one scenario carrying over into later ones.
It was a cold and rainy morning when Captain Robert FitzRoy stepped onto the deck of the HMS Beagle. He didn’t realize then, that it was the beginning of one of the most famous sea expeditions in the history of mankind. The 27th December 1831, was the first day of a planned two year expedition. On board, there were 73 crew members and – invited by the captain himself – a young, 22-year-old scientist, Charles Darwin, the man who was to impress the entire scientific world and to change the way we look at life on this planet forever.
Everything began, on this cold December morning, when HMS Beagle left Plymouth harbor…
The Voyage of the HMS Beagle is an incredible campaign for the Robinson Crusoe game. It is incredible, because it is based on the real events that took place between 1831 and 1836. The events which led to the creation of the Theory of Evolution. During this very expedition Charles Darwin laid the foundations for one of the most breakthrough scientific papers in the history of mankind– the paper on the Origin of Species. Players take on the roles of members of the crew of the HMS Beagle with Darwin, at the start of a great adventure. In the following scenarios, they will have to challenge adversity and support the young scientist in his research. In the box you will find 5 new scenarios making up a complete campaign: In the first you will help Darwin collect amazing specimens of nature. In the second you will repair the ship destroyed during the expedition. The third scenario finds you on the ocean waves, where you will have to face a ferocious storm. The fourth scenario leads you to an island where you will explore the culture of the local tribes. In the final scenario of the campaign you will have to survive an epidemic which decimates the crew and destroys the flora and fauna specimens collected during the exploration. |
