Sarnokhodnoe Orudne Su-85 - The 85mm gun was devastating in the defence of the Motherland. Mounted in a T34 tank hull, it becomes an excellent hunter of German tanks - Pack contains 1 Assault Gun, 1 Commander and 1 Dismounted Crew figures.
In January 1943 work began to mount the 85mm gun on the hull of the SU-122. The project was started in response to the appearance of the Tiger 1E on the Russian front.
After several prototypes were developed the version mounting the D-5S 85mm gun was adopted and pressed into production.
Early models had an armoured commanders "cap", but later models were fitted with the same cupola fitted to the T-34 obr 1942 in late 1943.
It was during the Dnieper crossing, in September 1943, that the SU-85 saw its first action.
In combat the SU-85 proved very effective able to take on the heaviest of German tanks from long ranges.
SU-85 continued in production until July 1944, but continued in service until the virtual end of the war. 2329 SU-85s were built.

The SU-85 is an extremely effective weapon, it is armed with the excellent 85mm gun with a Range 32"/80cm, ROF 2, AT 12, FP 3+, though it does have Poor HE. The SU-85 has good mobility as Fully-tracked and having Wide Tracks. |
