Produktbeschreibung

Scoucebook for playing Vikings on Earth, either with or without the supernatural.

Stafford, Petersen, and Ken Rolston, boxed, 1985.
This is one of the best of the early releases. It gave us hope amidst the lean dark years that were to come. In a sentence it is Scandinavia meets RuneQuest. Spanning from roughly 780 - 1070 AD, Vikings was the first (and possibly only) Earth supplement to work well. Greg knows his mythology, Sandy adds color, and Ken writes good scenarios. It is very detailed but doesn't go overboard. I reread this every so often and always find new things I missed. It is easily adaptable to Glorantha and still worth the money if you don't. You could set this near Valind's Glacier or a frosty coastal area if you decide to transplant it. Heroes and Different Worlds published several articles previewing and expanding it. If you hate dwarves, you can't go wrong because they turn to stone in sunlight. Contents are:
Read Me First / Viking Digest, 20 pgs. Combines the credits and What's in the Box with background material. Vikings, Franks, Hunt monsters, nomads, and the crew of the Sea Warrior are all detailed. I want to know how Horic the Lap Magician got his name, once I get my mind out of the gutter, that is.
Player's Book, 40 pgs. This has sections on living on alternate earth (to find a way to get you to Glorantha!), Viking character creation, Viking society, customs, ships, religion, magic, and mucho Norse deities. Spells, runes, and a detailed prospaedia of gods and goddesses.
Gamemaster's Book, 32 pgs. This book has sections on the world of adventure, the Viking world, 39 Scandinavian creatures and a suggested reading list for dozens of Norse mythology, history, etc. books.
Scenarios Book, 48 pgs. Has planning a Viking campaign and the scenarios: Hunt, Thing, Raid, Gone Viking, Trade, Thule. All are for new players, so higher levels are left out in the cold.
Adventurer Sheets, 16 pgs. They were nice enough to fill in your culture as Viking and species as human. More unneeded ship info.
Map of Scandinavia, a 16"x22" map with a longhouse and several detailed Viking ships on the back side.
