The lousy Dobyski internal artwork has made it infamous. While the pictures make you cringe, the contents are solid and interesting. The troll pantheon is explained in groovy gory glory. For the critics, Tales of the Reaching Moon has artwork you can copy and paste over many of the full page spreads. The critics, mostly Australians, have made peace with Dobyski and went after the true criminal, the editor. Troll Gods is very topic specific and it's a fascinating read. Jonstown Compendium, 28 pgs. Better than the average ramblings from Jonstown, this details a wide variety of subjects including overviews of the major troll deities, troll regions, beliefs, and other cultural pieces. Minaryth Purple, the Grey Sage put this all together. There are some real gems sprinkled throughout the contents, especially Skyfall Lake.
Troll Cults Book, 88 pgs. Troll Gods galore. Ignore the pictures and it's a great work. There are regional cult tables at the end, plus an index. Many of the new cults are for specific niches and not really meant for troll player characters. There are some interesting similarities between the cult of the Black Sun and certain shlock horror films. Ask MOB if you want a detailed explanation. How many times are they going to include Kyger Litor? Since they included the Blue Moon I'll let it slide. Lastly, why am I embarrassed by liking the Zong Hunter picture? |
