Produktbeschreibung

WI282 April is going to be FoW Vietnam, and it's going to be a big one!

Why so big? First, its theme is about Flames Of War in Vietnam.
Second, the army lists and special rules for every miniature we're going to release in April (as well as all the rules for the back-catalog) are in the FREE 40-page Intelligence Handbook!

That's right, all the rules published back in WI266 are reprinted here, along with loads of new info about more helicopters and a ton of AFVs.

Issue 282

The upcoming issue of Wargames Illustrated contains the following content:

SEARCH AND DESTROY
In our introductory section you will find the following articles: Search and Destroy - Refighting Battles in Vietnam with Flames Of War, Tropic Lightning - America’s 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam, and Hanoi’s Saigon Front - Vietnamese forces in the Battle for Saigon.

CONTACT! CONTACT!
Our Vietnam theme content continues with: Contact! Contact! - A search and destroy mission in Vietnam, including a full battle report, and Other Missions in Vietnam - Using standard FOW missions for Vietnam.

HEAVY METAL
Our Vietnam theme coverage for this month concludes with four more articles: Diamond Head Cobras - Tropic Lightning’s helicopter gunships in Vietnam, Tracks in Vietnam - American tanks and APCs, 1965-1971, Painting US tanks and helicopters of the Vietnam War, and Stoner vs Kalashnikov - infantry weapons in Vietnam.
RETHINKING ‘SAXON’ WARGAMING
What do you mean, shieldwall? Dr Ryan Lavelle has been studying Saxons for quite a few years, and here he presents his alternative views on some of the long-held tenets of Saxons in wargaming.

RUNNING A WARGAMES CAMPAIGN. PART TWO
Rick Priestley shares more of his ‘sagelike’ advice on how to run campaigns.

AS COMPLETE A VICTORY
The battle of Camden, 1780, showcased some radical new ideas on how to conduct a battle and proved as complete a victory as the British had during the American Revolution.

BOUDICA’S LAST BATTLE
Our current UK Editor and our former owner joined author Rick Priestley for a massive game of Hail Caesar, the latest ruleset to roll out the door from Warlord Games.

TREACHERY!
From ancient Egypt to modern Afghanistan - treachery has been a feature of most conflicts, but how do you represent this on the tabletop? Jim Graham has some ideas.

OFF TO THE RACES
1798 is known as the Year of Liberty in Ireland - when the country rose up against the British occupiers. The French sent a small force of soldiers to aid the Irish. This article tells the tale of what became of them, and offers ideas for refighting one of the key battles, Castlebar.

CARNAGE AND GLORY II
Nigel P. Marsh pulls back the covers on his computer-aided gaming system, Carnage & Glory II, and guides us through the fictional ECW Battle of Enville Common.

PLUS we take a look at The Wargames Holiday Centre Crete, the Crusade 2011 show (UK), and you can find our Reviews online.

Included free with this issue of Wargames Illustrated is the 40-page Intellegence Handbook Tropic Lightning

Tropic Lightning allows you to refight the big battles of the war
in Vietnam. Not little skirmishes, but the major battles where
both sides strove to the utmost to inflict a serious defeat on the enemy and win the war.

The war in Vietnam was unlike anything the US Army had
prepared for. The enemy were lightly-equipped infantrymen
using guerilla tactics in a land full of mountains, jungles, paddy fields and river deltas. The US Army was equipped to fight a nuclear war in Europe with heavy tanks, armoured infantry, helicopter gunships, and lots of firepower.

The resulting clash stretched both sides to the limit. American
firepower and mobility gave them a decisive advantage once
they located the enemy. Therein lay the problem, locating the
enemy. The Vietnamese guerillas could often choose where and when to fight, but faced an up hill battle to inflict a serious
defeat on the American forces and suffered heavy casualties
with every attempt.

Pit your cunning against overwhelming firepower. Fight smart
to bring your firepower to bear and avoid being overrun. Search for the enemy in the jungles and paddies. Find them
and destroy them.
Tropic Lightning

Inside You Will Find:

* Rules for using Flames Of War to refight the battles between American airmobile and armoured forces and the People’s Army of Vietnam (or the North Vietnamese Army as the Americans called it).

* Field a Tank Company equipped with powerful M48 Patton tanks firing ‘beehive’ ammunition.

* Mount up and move out with an Armored Cavalry Troop packed with M113 ACAV assault vehicles and M48 and M551 Sheridan tanks.

* Lead a Rifle Company (Mech) in M113 armoured personnel carriers on a Search and Destroy mission.

* Strike from the skies with a Rifle Company (Airmobile) mounted in UH-1D ‘Slick’ helicopters.
