Produktbeschreibung
This bullet-proofed version of the half-track mounted quad 2cm gun protected the Panzers from aircraft.
The first 100 vehicles were produced from April 1940 to mid 1941 and continued at a rate of ten per month until August 1942. Production was then increased and 750 to 800 vehicles were produced by December 1944.
They were issued to both Luftwaffe and Wehrmacht FlaK units.
Initially the 3.7cm FlaK 36 was mounted on the Sd Kfz 6 (5t) but when production of the 5-ton halftrack was ended it was decided to utilise the Sd Kfz 7 superstructure already in service as the Sd Kfz 7/1.
The 37mm gun could be traversed 360 degrees by hand and could be elevated from -8 to +85 degrees.
The crew consisted of seven men: a commander, five gunners and a driver.
The vehicle carried 120 rounds of 37mm ammunition. An additional 432 rounds were stored in a trailer.
Production of the Sd Kfz 7/2 started in 1942 and over 1,000 vehicles were built by February 1945. Like the Sd Kfz 7/1, they were issued to both Luftwaffe and Wehrmacht FlaK units.
In Flames of War -
Both these FlaK half-tracks can be found as part of your divisional choices in Hitler's Fire Brigade and the Sd Kfz 7/1 can be a Weapon Platoon choice as part of a Panzer Kompanie.
The Quad 2cm anti-aircraft gun can be quite devastating on both air and ground targets. It had a range of 24"/60cm, a massive ROF 6, a handy AT 5 and Firepower 5+.
The 3.7cm anti-aircraft gun, like the Bofors, has a range of 32"/80cm, a good ROF 4, AT 6 and Firepower 5+.
So even if the enemy's aircraft don't turn up I'm sure you'll find a use for them! |
