Subtitled "High Adventure in the Steam Age," Castle Falkenstein is a flashy Victorian-Era pastiche game set in a 19th Century Europe with fantasy elements weaved in. Literary characters hobnob with historical celebrities. Dragons take tea with royalty and sorcerers battle anarchists atop magically powered zeppelins. That sort of game.
The system uses playing cards for resolution -- and in three separate systems no less. (One of them is a duelling mechanic that's really handy and easily stolen for other games.) It's got the same sort of baroque fun that makes the original Deadlands so much fun. |
