Rare Earth Magnets, 40 Magnets
Rare Earth Magnets and You
A few weeks ago JP gave everyone a heads up about the inclusion of rare earth magnets and their inclusion in all of our tank boxes. The IS-2 company is the first box set to benefit from this and we hope that you will find these as useful as we have.
Like all product innovations, these things require advance planning to ensure that we not only have tanks mastered with the holes for the magnets, but that we also have a good stock of magnets. Ironically, it was the second thing that was a lot easier than we had previously thought. One conversation, the exchanging of some money, and a DHL box with hundreds of thousands of rare earth magnets arrived at our factory in Malaysia, ready to be put into box sets and bagged up for our Special Order Catalogue.
The former required significantly more planning because Evan generally has models sculpted months in advance. In the case of the IS-2’s it easy because James was in the process of sculpting on the extra stowage and was able to just drill out the holes. All tank boxes in the future will include magnets. However some older models will require a little extra work to install the new magnets into the hulls of the vehicles. Following the guide below, this process can be pretty straight forward!
We thought a number of you, who have not used these magnets in the past, might benefit from a few pointers that we picked up whilst playing with them. With both Jeremy and James out of action sculpting and painting new models for our third Bagration book, Wayne busy writing it, and Mike maintaining the web I volunteered to give it a shot...
