Game Designers' Workshop (GDW) was a company that published many popular wargames, as well as role-playing games such as Traveller.
The company was originally established June 22, 1973 by Frank Chadwick, Rich Banner, Marc Miller, and Loren Wiseman. The company was disbanded February 29, 1996 after having suffered financial troubles for quite some time. Many of their games are now carried by other publishers.
Originally their main effort went into The Europa Series of monster wargames, of which Drang Nach Osten! was merely the first, but they brought out a considerable number over the years.
By rough count, GDW published one new product every 22 days for 22 years. The designers attributed the company's demise as much to burn-out as to financial difficulties.
Publication of Role-playing Game sytems was continued by Far Future Enterprises (Traveller, 2300 AD, Twilight: 2000 and Dark Conspiracy).

"The past and future have collided in a world gone mad..." This is a comic-book style beat-em-up, set in a derelict New York City in the year 2513. Jack Tenrec, Mess O'Bradovich, the lovely Diplomat and Explorer Hannah Dundee and Mustapha Cairo are our main characters. They all drive around in their Cadillacs battling against the Black Marketeers, odd dinosaurs and a crazed scientist bent of taking over the world.

Command Decision is a set of miniatures rules which enables players to refight operational-level combined arms engagements during WWII. It shows the importance of each element of the combined arms team and does so in a fast-playing format that uniquely captures the pace and tempo of modern mobile combat.

A clunky mix of Cyberpunk and Call of Cthulhu, Dark Conspiracy has a lot of heart, but more contradictions. Dark Conspiracy employs GDW's house system, making it compatible with both Twilight: 2000 and Merc: 2000, though the system has serious flaws. Detractors note the lack of background, but dedicated fans have added copious material over the years and GDW itself supported the game with numerous adventure/sourcebooks and expansion sourcebooks.
