Ecos

This game designed by John D Clair, with the art of Sabrina Miramon, and graphic design by Matt Paquette explores that what if? In Ecos players are forces of nature molding the planet, but with competing visions of its grandeur. You will have the chance to create a part of the world, similar but different to the one we know. Which landscapes, habitats, and species thrive will be up to you. Game play in Ecos is simultaneous and caters to 2-6 players. Each round one player will reveal Element tokens from the Element Bag, giving all players the opportunity to complete a card from their tableau and shape the continent to their own purpose. Elements that cannot be used can be converted into Energy cubes or additional cards in hand or added to your tableau, to give you greater options as the game evolves. Mountain ranges, jungle, rivers, seas, islands and savannah, each with their own fauna, all lie within the scope of the players options.

Edge of Darkness

Edge of Darkness is the third Card Crafting Game from Alderac Entertainment Group designed by John D. Clair. Edge of Darkness combines Card Crafting, Worker Placement, shared deck-building, and a whole new Threat Challenge system in a medium-weight euro-style board game of 60 to 120 minutes for 1 to 4 players.

Players are the heads of powerful guilds in the City. Each Guild vies with the others to become the leaders of the City in a desperate struggle against great evil. But the Guilds must also work together because the dangers facing the city can harm them all.

The Guilds exert their control in the city by sending agents to various locations where they can generate resources or abilities and enable the Guild to take actions. Guilds grow in power as they maneuver their agents and loyalists into positions of importance in the districts and organizations of the City. Over time the Guilds can seek to create synergies between the places their agents have been assigned and the tendrils of influence the Guilds have connected to the City's infrastructure.

To win a Guild must have the most power in the city when the game ends. Power is gained having the allegiance of important citizens and nobles, by accumulating wealth, and by undertaking actions beneficial to the City such as defending it from external and internal threats.

Here are some highlights of the mechanics in the game:

Card Crafting: Similar to the original card-crafting game, Mystic Vale, all cards are constructed of crafting slips which have game content on one third (1/3) of the slip and are transparent on the other two thirds (2/3). During the game players will construct cards, combining (sleeving) different effects onto one card (ideally in ways that make strategic sense). However, unlike Mystic Vale, the transparent cards are double-sided, and when you upgrade the "good" side of the cards (front), you also add strength to the "bad" side of the cards (back).
Group deckbuilding using one shared deck: Rather than having your own deck, there is a central deck that all players draw from and discard to. Different players will have the allegiance of different cards in that deck. Using other players' cards means you have to pay them. During the game you can claim allegiance of more cards in the deck by sleeving a slip into the card with your color and seal.
Card-driven worker placement: While your actions are card-driven, most costs in the game are in the form of opportunity cost. Advancements don't have a cost, instead they require the use of workers to a greater or lesser degree depending on the power of the card. e.g. many effects require placing or pulling workers from different city locations as dictated by the card effects. Since you have a limited number of workers to use, you will constantly be choosing to forgo one useful thing in order to do another.
Threat Tower: There is a Threat Tower which dictates when and whom Threats will attack. Cards leave the shared deck and enter the Threat Board, where they accumulate Threat Cubes on each player's turn. These cubes are color-coded, and when a threshold number of cubes of a given color accumulate on a card, it attacks the City. If the color matches one of the players, it attacks that player. If the color is black, it attacks all players!
Modular set up: Edge of Darkness will come with 12 Locations. Each game you use only 10 of these Locations, which can be specifically selected or chosen randomly, making for a lot of variety from game-to-game in the types of challenges you will face and the strategies you will need to employ. These Locations are comprised of a Location Board and Crafting Slips. Location Boards may specify special rules for worker placement, or extend the basic rules with all new systems. For example, a combination of Location Boards can be used to assemble a party of heroes to take the fight to the Threat Tower and engage in a Monster Hunt!

Lost Legacy (Alderac & Pegasus)/(engl. & dt.)

Lost Legacy is a game of risk, deduction and luck, for 2–4 players. Designed by Seiji Kanai and Hayato Kisaragi, the game features simple rules that create exciting player interactions and dynamic card combinations. Each turn you play a card in order to eliminate other players from the game or discover where the Lost Legacy card could be found. When the deck runs out of cards, the Investigation phase begins. The player who determines where the Lost Legacy can be found wins!

Each Lost Legacy set can be played independently or be mixed together with other sets to create a unique custom set. There are currently three upcoming releases in the Lost Legacy series:

The Starship: In the distant past, a starship from a faraway world appeared in the sky. Damaged in battle, the craft broke apart and traced lines of fire across the horizon. These falling stars crashed to the surface, and in the ages to come, became enshrined in legends as the Lost Legacy.
Flying Garden: Scattered across the world are pieces of a strange craft from far beyond the skies – known as the Lost Legacies. In the eastern peaks, legends speak of a floating paradise, a garden of unearthly delights protected by an implacable guardian. Some of these legends claim the garden provides an unending source of ambrosial food and water.
Whitegold Spire: Ages in the past, a strange craft from beyond the skies visited this world. The craft broke apart and pieces of the vessel that crashed to the surface became known as the Lost Legacies. One of the most famous is known as the Whitegold Spire, formed of a unique metal that enhances spells and magical powers.

Mystic Vale (eng. & dt.)

A curse has been placed on the Valley of Life. Hearing the spirits of nature cry out for aid, clans of druids have arrived, determined to use their blessings to heal the land and rescue the spirits. It will require courage and also caution, as the curse can overwhelm the careless who wield too much power.

In Mystic Vale, 2 to 4 players take on the role of druidic clans trying to cleanse the curse upon the land. Each turn, you play cards into your field to gain powerful advancements and useful vale cards. Use your power wisely, or decay will end your turn prematurely. Score the most victory points to win the game!

Mystic Vale uses the innovative "Card Crafting System", which lets you not only build your deck, but build the individual cards in your deck, customizing each card's abilities to exactly the strategy you want to follow.

Nightfall

When daylight began to recede from the earth, people wondered how life would go on. When the creatures of the night openly claimed the world as their own, people wondered if life would go on…

NIGHTFALL is an intense, competitive deck-building game, where players marshal the creatures of the night and those humans who combat them. Each player strives to seize the power to rule. Draft your cards wisely, chain together your combinations, destroy your opponents’ minions, and conquer! NIGHTFALL is unlike any deck building game you’ve played.

Choose your minions and control the eternal night.

Romance of the Nine Empires

This description's a bit tricky, so let's take it in stages...

Countermay: The Tapestry of Worlds, the crossroads of civilizations beyond imagining. After a thousand years of war, Countermay is dying. Battles, curses, extraterrestrial parasites, demonic influence, and other hazards have ruined much of the planet. The food is running out, and the threat of starvation looms. The only way to save Countermay is to seize undisputed control. Until then, armies march, fed with the ever-dwindling food as they churn farmland into mud with their boots. Can you save Countermay from its invitable doom?

Romance of the Nine Empires is a fictitious interactive collectible card game (CCG) set in the fantasy world of Countermay. In the game, players assume command of one of nine vastly different warring factions — including steampunk aliens, a dark god-king's crusade of conversion, displaced WWII-era American GIs, and a risen empire of the undead — to expand, glorify, or defend their empires. Through its fictitious fifteen-year history, players have shaped the world of Countermay through their individual and collective achievements, and the results are reflected in the story and the current state of the empires. That concept was inspired by the Legend of the Burning Sands CCG, which in turn is based on the Legend of the Five Rings CCG: in those real-life games, tournament results affect the actual story in future expansions.

The plot of the 2013 movie The Gamers: Hands of Fate revolves around the fictitious game. Within the movie itself, AEG was the publisher of the game, but as a result of Kickstarter funding for The Gamers: Hands of Fate, it decided to create a real-life version of R9E. The real-life release is not a collectable game, but a boxed set with a set distribution of cards. This boxed set represents the fictitious 15th Anniversary World Championship Edition of Romance of the Nine Empires, and (to slip into the movie storyline for a second) it holds the decks used by the top-placing characters for each faction that made it to the quarterfinals at the 2012 World Championships at Gen Con Indy.

So there's 3 levels of reality at play here:

the CCG game called Romance of the Nine Empires, pictured in the movie The Gamers: Hands of Fate, which is played by the characters at Gen Con Indy 2012 and is 15 years old;
the fantasy world of Countermay, which is pictured in the CCG game and whose history is shaped by the players of the CCG game;
the real card game Romance of the Nine Empires, edited by AEG in 2013, which comes in a boxed set and is inspired by (and presented as) the fictitious CCG.

Smash Up! (engl. & dt.)

The "shufflebuilding" game Smash Up starts with a simple premise: Take the twenty-card decks of two factions, shuffle them into a forty-card deck, then compete to smash more Bases than your opponents! Each faction brings a different game mechanism into play – pirates move cards, zombies bring cards back from the discard pile, dinosaurs have huge power – and every combination of factions brings a different play experience.

During play, Base cards (each with their own difficulties and abilities) are in play. You attempt to have the most power on the Base from your minions when the Base is smashed. Sounds easy? How easy is it when an opponent's Alien-Ninja decides to Beam Up your minions to other Bases - flat out Assassinate them? What about when the Pirate-Dinosaur player Full Sails in and releases King Rex to stomp your minions into the ground, or when the Wizard-Zombies use their Mystic Power to create an Outbreak, suddenly flooding minions onto the Base from the discard pile? Or what if you faced a Zombie-Dinosaur player instead and he created an Outbreak of massive beasts all at once?!?

When a Base is smashed, each player in first, second and third place scores points. Fourth place? Sorry, bro – try harder next time.

With eight different factions, Smash Up includes dozens of combinations to try. Pirate-Aliens play different than Ninja-Aliens, for instance. Which will you use to smash up your opponents?

And did we mention the dinosaurs have laser beams?

Spycraft CCG

Spycraft is a CCG set in a world of dark secrets and high espionage, where players become larger-than-life Masterminds poised to take on threats of global scale – power-mad dictators, eccentric billionaire industrialists, and criminal masterminds obsessed with global domination. Build a team of highly trained professionals outfitted with the latest cutting-edge gadgets and a worldwide information network, then shoot, seduce, or speed your way through the deadliest missions your Deck can defeat.

The World of Tempest Boardgames

The City-State of Tempest is the home to an unprecedented new idea in board gaming: a persistent world with recurring characters embroiled in an epic tale. The goal is to create a series of interconnected games to give you, the discriminating gaming enthusiast, an all-new gaming experience. Each game in the Tempest series shares a story, characters, and location with every other game.

When you play a Tempest game, you’re not playing a game about resources and commodities, you’re playing a game about people. And the people you meet are the same from one game to the next—you may be discovering a different aspect of their personalities, but at their heart they are the same people, be they corrupt politicians or heretical philosophers.

In addition, each Tempest game will tell a small part of an overarcing story. The people in Tempest will grow and change over the course of the story. New people will enter the scene, others might get killed. You never know what the next game might bring.

The City-State of Tempest has been over three years in the making, and features elegant illustration by renowned industry artists Andrew Hepworth and Jeffrey Himmelman. With a heavy art budget and meticulous attention to game design, Tempest games seek to cut no corners.

War Chest

War Chest is an all-new bag-building war game! At the start of the game, raise your banner call (drafting) several various units into your army, which you then use to capture key points on the board. To succeed in War Chest, you must successfully manage not only your armies on the battlefield, but those that are waiting to be deployed.

Each round you draw three unit coins from your bag, then take turns using them to perform actions. Each coin shows a military unit on one side and can be used for one of several actions. The game ends when one player — or one team in the case of a four-player game — has placed all of their control markers. That player or team wins!

Warlords of the Accordlands RPG ( D20 )

So what is it that makes the Warlord fantasy universe different from other fantasy offerings in the gaming industry? Why would a player shopping for a new roleplaying game want to give Warlord a try? For one, his eye might be drawn to the striking covers and interior artwork of these full-color books, or maybe to the large poster maps in each book. But these will serve to draw the prospective player into the real substance of the Warlord universe, the story, the characters, and the action. The action comes from perhaps the most exciting, challenging aspect of the Warlord universe: the Bad Guys have already won. All the heroes and leaders of the world are dead, murdered, assassinated in a massive, painstakingly orchestrated campaign that became known as the Assassins Strike.
