Produktbeschreibung
This is the sixth in a series of ''playtest modules'', and the only one currently available. It features a sampling of rules which may be used in a variety of new products, in particular 24 new SSD's for the simulator races. Specific features include:
Pararavian ship and weapon (playtest for Module Y)
The Paravians were an old enemy of the Gorn, destroyed by the combination of a Gorn blockade and a supernova. They are armed with Quantum Wave Torpedoes, seeking weapons like plasmas which can be fired every turn and have PPD-like splash onto adjacent shields.
Vudar ship and weapons (playtest for Module F2)
The Vudar are a Klingon subject race who successfully rebelled in Y178, specializing in ion storms and ion technology. They are armed with Ion Cannons (heavy weapons like photons, except they use 2d6 and are thus less effected by EW); and they defend themselves with Ion Pulse Generators, which can either aid EW or damage all seeking weapons within 2 hexes.
Megaphasers, Megaphotons, and High Energy Decel
Optional new rules. Megaphasers are heavy weapons which can be ''tacked onto'' existing ships. Megaphotons were an unused option for Feds to have 4 ''mega-photons'' for the dreadnaught (rather than 6 normal photons), and 4 ''mini-photons'' for the destroyer (rather than being underpower/overgunned). High Energy Decel is an option for X-ships to drop 5 speed at the same cost as an HET (and using up an HET bonus!).
Comets, Drag Space and Stonefish drones
New terrain, plus the precursor to Starfish drones
Hispanolan ships and the Proton Torpedo rules (Module C4 expansion)
The Hispanolans are an alternative to the Britanians of Module C4 with very similar ships, except they use the proton torpedo rather than the disruptor. Protons are like half-power photons which can be fired every turn, but also have many options for special forms of damage imitating cannons: chain-shot, hot-shot, and grape-shot.
New ships for the Deltans, Flivvers, Britanians, and Canadi'ens from Module C4, plus Frax x-ships.
Also included are 3 new scenarios, Orion Ranks, F&E ships from R6 and rules; and two new skill mods for Prime Directive. There are brief samples of what a ''TacIntel Manual'' and ''Ship Comparison Charts'' would be like, and designers notes on the possibilities for Module V (Operational Movement), Module C3A (Andromedan Threat File), and Module X2. Plus a sample of Star Fleet Assault, a two page playable prototype of an upcoming detailed ground-combat boardgame.
None of the material in this module are very polished, but it has a lot more ideas than many of the other SFB modules that you might buy. The one drawback is that nearly all of the new ships are for simulator races, except the sample Paravian ships and Vudar ship.
