Produktbeschreibung

Two alliances fight in 5 dimensions to gain control of the world.

Not just the military war of great battles but the diplomatic pressure to win or lose new allies such as Italy or the Soviet Union. The third dimension is the economic crisis of critical resources such as oil and iron ore. The fourth dimension is the technological race to develop war winning weapons such as jet aircraft, rocketry or the atom bomb. Finally the fifth dimension is the moral decisions which shaped each nation's war conduct. Seizing power through violence and destruction is compared with close co-operation, sharing and sacrfice in the search for peace.

The interplay of all five dimensions on each other is the unique moral conflict experience.

Personal Development and Reality Change:
Ther are great possibilities to learn, develop character and skills, which have everyday personal impact. Teamwork, strategy, diplomacy, negotiation and planning are practised, while continually taking the moral issues into account.

This game could change your life.

With good reason you may ask why did I design another Second World War Game? What is so special about this game? What is so different and not available anywhere else?

Moral Conflict 1941 is a strategic team game played by 2 to 6 players; which powerfully reconstructs the military, economic, diplomatic, technological and moral conflict which enveloped the globe in the Second World War. It is possible to learn and practice not just team work but also strategy, planning and focus to achieve victory.

Like drawing a line in one dimension, many war games with only the military aspect can become boring. The second dimension turns a line into a square and suddenly everything looks different and more exciting. No one wants to go back to just drawing lines. This game’s second dimension is the diplomatic conflict, with the possibility to use neutral nations and acquire or lose allies, such as the Soviet Union or Spain.

A third dimension changes a square into a cube. This game’s third dimension, the economic war of production, resources, commerce and growth of a nation’s economy, can contribute to victory or defeat. It is also possible to lose through defeat in an economic crisis leading to shortages of oil or iron ore.

Could there be more than this? Is there a fourth dimension?

Time all around us, is a key concept and we learn to recognize this fourth dimension through different ways. This game’s fourth dimension is the technological race which changes all weapons and the game with the advance of time. Suddenly new weapons like jet aircraft, rocketry and weapons of mass destruction give possibilities undreamed of in a three dimensional world.

So victory can only be possible, if all four dimensions are understood and used. This is unusual in a strategy game but this is not what is unique about this game.

There is a fifth dimension which we recognize with different senses just as time is recognized differently to the first three dimensions?

When anyone watches a film on the Second World War or thinks back on these times; the fifth dimension is often their first thoughts. The ideological conflict between good and evil was the central issue of this war and is the fifth dimension in this game. Suddenly everything is new again, changed and the possibilities diverge even more. Your nation’s moral conduct in war opens and closes so many doors.
Each nation conducted the war with different moral conduct and all of them slipped down into worse actions as the war developed. For example, the German’s and Soviet Union’s extensive repression in occupied areas and also their own territories, required occupation by greatly increased armed forces. The United States on the other hand could clear their homeland of all troops if necessary and occupy enemy territories using fewer armed forces. The USA’s close co-operation with their allies included open exchange of technology breakthroughs and supply of critical arms and resources even free of charge. This was unthinkable for the Germans or Soviet Union; whose moral stand discouraged the acquisition of new allies and eventually led to conflict with their existing partners. The Allies may have held the moral high ground but were not perfect. If they want to attack neutrals like Iran or start strategic bombing as actually happened, they soon find their moral principles slipping and the consequences which follow.

As Richard Overy wrote in his book “Why the Allies Won” “The outcome of war depended as much on the successful mobilization of the economic, scientific and moral resources of the nation as it did on the fighting itself.”

The complex interplay of all these dimensions on each other is clearly seen. This is the unique experience of Moral Conflict 1941. Each game is different and the options in a five dimensional game are unlimited.

There are two levels available in this game.

The beginner’s game is largely a one dimensional military war to learn the basic concepts. The advanced game brings in all five dimensions together but the moral decisions are partly set.
At the start of the game it should be decided which version of the game is to be played, beginners or advanced. First time players of “Moral Conflict 1941” should normally try the beginner’s rules. This helps them to quickly get playing and familiarize themselves with the basics of the game. This means at first you only need to read the beginner’s rules to play the game. When they feel confident, players should try a game with the advanced rules. You can play with just the extra rules for the military dimension and add one dimension after another as you play more games.
It is also possible to play both these games using only the Atlantic/ Europe half of the world map or the Asia/Pacific half. This is especially good for friends new to the game or when you have fewer players or less time.

An expansion game is also being prepared, using the same board and all of the pieces; with rules that allow you to experiment with different moral conduct. Each player can decide to change a nation’s moral conduct within certain limits. What would happen if the Germans treated their occupied areas in the Soviet Union better? Could the Ukraine and Baltic States, which welcomed the Germans as liberators, join the Axis alliance as independent nations? The pride which generally accompanies bad moral conduct; lead to the Axis reversal before Moscow. What would have happened before Moscow; if the Axis had made preparations for the terrible Russian winter?
The search for peace is strongly represented and it is possible to improve your nation’s moral conduct during the game when making peace with an enemy. This game gives an insight; into the many what if questions.

I wish players, not only many years of pleasure with Moral Conflict 1941 but also hope it will help them to learn and develop their personality and character; especially in the understanding of moral concepts and their practical implications in everyday life.
