First Men In covers the actions of the 82nd, 101st, and 6th Airborne Divisions in Normandy 1944. The following scenarios in the design process. Not all will be included with the game, but most will be available for free downloads.

82nd AIRBORNE DIVISION in Normandy, 6-12 June 1944

1. “D-Day – Night Drops at [and into] Sainte Mere-Eglise”
DATE/UNIT: June 5-6 Night - Mixed elements 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Scattered paratroopers are erroneously dropped into and near the town of Ste. Mere-Eglise, and engage German Security elements. NOTES: Special Rules “Random Parachute Landing” rules for US forces, “Random Aerial Bombing” and “Alarm/Activation” rules for German forces.

ACTION: Airborne Co (-) Infantry assault on German Flak Battery and Support/Security Elements at Ste. Mere-Eglise. NOTES: Special Rules Americans can make no ranged attacks (Strictly used surprise Knives, Bayonets, and grenades), Germans had gone back to sleep after a bombing raid and paratroopers that had landed in the village were killed or captured. - Night

3. “D-Day Drop and Securing La Fiere Causeway East”
DATE/UNIT: June 5-6 Night 2nd BN, 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Co (-) Patrol approaching from East end of La Fiere Causeway engages German Security.

7. D-Day DROP and Amfreville Orchard Engagements
DATE/UNIT: June 6 / 2nd BN, 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Co (-) Drop Zone action and later Defending Orchard Southeast of Amfreville engage German infantry advancing SE along road toward la Fiere Causeway. – Night.

9. D-Day Counter Attack vic. Fauville Roadblock
DATE / UNIT: June 6th Daytime / Co. I, 2nd BN, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Co (-) maneuvers around the West flank of the Fauville roadblock to attack a German reinforcement column/truck convoy.

10. D-Day Defense of Neuville-au-Plain Roadblock
DATE / UNIT: June 6th Daytime / Co. D (-) 1st BN, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Co (-) defends Neuville-au-Plain roadblock (about 2750 yards NE of Ste Mere-Eglise) against assault by elements of German 1058th Infantry Regiment. 11. “D-Day Relief of Neuville-au-Plain”

ACTION: Airborne Co. (-) attempts relief of the Neuville-au-Plain roadblock, following Assault by elements of German 1058th Infantry Regiment. [ The First Men In Pp. 161-162 E/505 relief force to Neuville au Plain]

12. “D-Day Assault on Manior la Fiere”
DATE / UNIT: June 6th Daytime / A Co. (-) 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Co. (-) assault on Manor la Fiere defended by German infantry. [ The First Men In Pp. 190-194 LT John Dolan and A/505 fight their way toward Manior La Fiere and the bridge. ]

13. “D-Day Assault on la Fiere bridge”
DATE / UNIT: June 6th Daytime / Co. (-) 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Co. (-) assault on la Fiere bridge defended by German infantry.

14. “D-Day Defense of La Fiere Bridge”
DATE / UNIT: June 6th Daytime / Co. A 1st BN, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Co. (-) defends la Fiere ad bridge against combined arms assault of German Infantry, Artillery, Mortars and two tanks. [ The First Men In Pp. 199-201 Dolan’s A/505 clears Manior La Fiere, takes up defensive position overlooking causeway. Pp. 211-218, A/505 withstands first German assault across causeway. Heroic bazooka teams destroy German tanks.]

15. “D-Day Eastern Defense of La Fiere ad Bridge”
DATE / UNIT: June 6th Daytime / Co. B, 1st BN, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Co (-)defends East End of la Fiere ad bridge against heavy German counter-attack. [The First Men In Pp. 207-209 LT Louis Levy and LT Joseph Kormylo and ad hoc force hold tiny hamlet of Cauquigny at eastern end of La Fiere; overrun by German force

16. “D-Day Hill 30/Picauville Engagement
DATE / UNIT: June 6th Daytime / Co. C, 2nd BN, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Infantry Patrol moving Southeast from Hill 30, 1500 yards NE of Picauville, engages elements of German 1057th Regiment

17. D-Day – “Relief of Sainte Mere-Eglise”
DATE/UNITS: June 6 / Combined Task Force of Co. (-) from 325th Glider infantry Regiment, and Armor TF of 21 Sherman Tanks. with Recon Vehicles, reinforced with and Airborne Infantry Platoon from E Co. 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment.
ACTION: Attempt to break through German positions vicinity Hill 20 to relieve paratroopers defending at Ste. Mere-Eglise. [The First Men In Pp. 173-179 COL Edson Raff and tank force tries to reach Ste. Mere Eglise from south. LT Roper Peddicord and his paratroopers join effort.]

ACTION: US Glider-borne Infantry, jeeps, and Anti Tank guns attempt to land and come into action while their landing zone is under control of German Infantry dug in on Hill 20 south of Sainte Mere-Eglise.

19. “D-Day Taking the Chef du Pont Causeway
DATE / UNIT: June 6th Daytime / Mixed Co. (-) under LTC Ostberg 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Infantry Co (-) attempt to secure the Western end of the Chef du Pont causeway from German defenders. [ The First Men In Pp. 163-169: LTC Edwin Ostberg and CPT Roy Creek seize western end of Chef du Pont causeway.]

20. “D+2 “German Attack to Recapture Sainte Mere-Eglise”
DATE / UNIT: June 7th Daytime / Co. ___ BN, ____ Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Infantry Co (-) defend north of Sainte Mere-Eglise [The First Men In Pp. 239-242 Germans prepare another attack from north of Ste. Mere Eglise. LT Waverly Wray single-handedly decapitates the German command and thwarts attack.]

21. “D+2 “Counter Attack From Sainte Mere-Eglise”
DATE / UNIT: June 7th Daytime 3rd BN, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Infantry Co (-) counter attacks north out of Sainte Mere-Eglise surprising the Germans [The First Men In Pp. 243-249: 3rd BN/505 launches attack north out of Ste Mere Eglise, destroying German regiment and capturing large number of POW’s]

22. “D+1 “June 7th Defense of La Fiere Causeway”
DATE / UNIT: June 7th Daytime / Co. A, 1st BN, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Co (-) defends East End of la Fiere ad bridge against heavy German counter-attack. [The First Men In Pp. 251-261 A/505 (+) withstands fierce German attack across La Fiere causeway. American line nearly breaks, holds on just long enough to exhaust German attack.]

23. D+2 “Merderet River Bridgehead”
DATE / UNIT: June 8th Daytime / Co. C, 1st BN, 325th Glider Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Airborne Infantry Co (-) attacks form small bridgehead over Merderet River at La Fiere and face German Counter Attack. PFC DeGlopper earns Medal of Honor in this engagement. [The First Men In Pp. 269-274 GI’s discover a ford across Merderet, 1st BN / 325 GIR ordered to stage night attack against Germans on west bank. Uncoordinated company and platoon-sized attacks fail. PFC Charles DeGlopper C/325 will be awarded Medal of Honor for sacrificing himself to allow his comrades to escape being cut off.]

24. “D+2 “Defense of Hill 30, Vic Capponnet”
DATE / UNIT: June 8th Daytime / 2nd BN (-), 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Isolated Airborne Co (+) defends against German 1057 Regiment of 91st Luftlande Division attacking their assembly area and defensive perimeter at Hill 30, vicinity Capponnet, west of the Meredet River.

25. “D+3 “Counter Attack Across La Fiere Causeway”
DATE / UNIT: June 9th Daytime / 3rd BN, 325th Glider Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Glider Infantry Co (-) attacks to seize West end of la Fiere Causeway against heavy German resistance. [The First Men In Pp. 279 3BN/325 will lead attack across La Fiere causeway. Pp. 283-287: Glidermen rush causeway, take heavy casualties but establish foothold on west bank. Pp. 291-294: CPT Robert Rae leads ad hoc company to support assault.]

3. D+4 “Attack on Carentan Causeway -- Opening Battle”
DATE/UNIT: June 10 / Elements of 3rd BN, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Elements Co (-) of 3rd BN, 502nd Airborne Infantry under LTC Robert Cole, attack with Mortar and Artillery support to seize the Narrow Causeway and approach into Carentan from the German 6th Falschirmjager Regiment.

4. D+4 “Carentan Causeway – Final Phase”
DATE/UNIT: June 10 /Elements of 3rd BN, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment
ACTION: Elements Co (-) of 3rd BN, 502nd PIR, reinforced by elements of the 2nd BN, 502nd PIR establish a hasty perimeter near the Carentan Causeway, to defend against a counter attack from the German 6th Falschirmjager Regiment.
