2300AD (Traveller)

2300AD was a hard science fiction role playing game published by GDW. GDW were also behind Traveller, the oldest and most popular science fiction role playing game, and other titles such as Twilight:2000 and Dark Conspiracy. Sadly, GDW folded in 1996 due to financial problems, and their titles have been bought up by other companies. The rights to Traveller have reverted back to the original owner, Marc Miller, and it has been re published by Imperium Games. 2300AD has been purchased by Tantalus Inc. , a computer software company who wish to develop the background but who are not revealing if there will ever be a third edition of the actual game. ( Though they did start work on some computer based conversions of Star Cruiser a few years back ).

Cybernet - Cyberpunk Roleplaying ( D20 Modern )

It was shaping up to be one hell of a day. The run had gone south in a big hurry, the corp they were supposed to hit had been alerted to their strike at least an hour before hand, and half his team had been chopped to meat before they even reached the vault. Now he was stuck behind seventeen inches of case hardened steel, waiting for this idiot hacker to get through the code locks and hoping she could accomplish it before another salvo of warheads ripped the vault door off its screaming hinges.

A heavy set of impacts against the steel bulwark at his back told him that they were trying to get in without resorting to blasting. That was good; it gave them more time. It also meant they were in the real vault this time. Takoma goons were never subtle, and if he had been in one of the false computer cores, they would be hauling out the heavy artillery and picking through the pieces later. Precision from these slags meant they had orders not to hurt this chamber and that gave the good guys a chance. At least, he really hoped that was what it meant.

Even now, with every two sheet in the city calling his team renegades and bounty hunters after his hide for the two mill Takamishi had on him, Jenner still liked to think of his team as the good guys. In a city where the police were just a security force owned by the highest bidder and the sky was blocked out with skyscrapers that dwarfed the Tower of Babel, lancers like himself were the only free souls left in the system. They were outsiders, he was an outsider, in a world where being in was the only protection there was. Tank had always said they were just going to get themselves killed doing this kind of work, and a Takoma rifle with a clip full of DUDE rounds had proven him right ten minutes ago. Damn it… He’d miss that big man. He missed Tank’s big gun right now.

A weird sound emitted from the door, a high pitched whine that seemed to echo from deep inside it. “We need to hurry the hell up!’ he yelled into his net-mike. From wherever the hell she was deep inside the webworks of the corporation’s frame, Hellcat must have heard him because she zombied her left arm in the real world into a very rude gesture and her screen printed out, ‘I am not baking muffins here, Rip. It’ll be a minute.’

As the wailing of the vault door grew louder, Rip got up and pull all the weight he could off his meat leg. The other one was shot up pretty bad and if they did live through this, he saw double amputee in his future. Knowing that surviving long enough to let Hellcat shred the data she needed out of this bloody company’s frame meant holding off whatever came through the hole that was getting cut, he flipped an expensive looking office table over and struck gold- wood veneer over steel. That would absorb a few rounds. He popped the tripod out on his heavy and set it up to cover the shrieking door.

‘You need a minute, I’ll get you a minute. Sixty seconds, coming up. You take sixty-ONE and it’s closed caskets all around.’

Infernum OGL RPG

Whether Hell existed before the first angels fell, or if it was created to hold them even as they fell, we cannot know. If there was a Hell before the Fall, it must have been an empty, dark place. Perhaps it was a midden for Creation, a refuse tip filled with rejected matter, or maybe it was a shadow of Heaven, cast by the mortal world blocking the radiant realm's perfect light.

Lucifer rebelled.

The angels fell.

We have only the tales of mortals to guide us on this. We, the heirs of angels, must piece together our heritage from the scraps of monkey-myth. We can surmise that some divine force exiled Lucifer and his followers. We use their word, God, because it is a convenient shorthand for our unknown enemy. The demon race was bred to overthrow this enemy and take His throne and whatever else we forget, we should never forget that destiny.

A full third of the Host fell, according to some accounts. For their sins for pride, for rebellion, for desiring to be like God, for unknowable and ineffable reasons they were banished and they fell. Lucifer fell fastest and hardest of all.

His impact on the stony ground of Hell was a cataclysm that can be likened only to the first instant of Creation. He smashed down through thousands of miles of burning rock, opening the Pit in his wake. The other fallen angels rained down like stars around him. There they lay in agony for uncounted ages, burning in the fires and writhing as the Corruption entered their once-holy forms.

Time did not pass in Hell then as it does now. Time exists only in the mortal realm it is why it is the mortal realm. In the Heavens, motion is provided by the primum mobile, the first cause, the motive force of God and this motion allows events to unfold in perfect order in Heaven. In Hell, there was neither time nor motion. It was a single, eternal moment of utter torment.

No torture was ever so painful. All the arts of the Astyanath are as nothing compared to what God did to His angels.

Through Will alone, Lucifer arose from the Pit where he lay. He forced his way through the unyielding reality of a timeless realm and cut a hole in the world. His blade sliced a portal from Hell into the mortal realm and time flowed forth. He freed Hell from its timeless state and brought the potential for change to the infernal realm.

In that second moment of Hell, it ceased being what it had been and became Lucifer's kingdom.

Infernum is the roleplaying game of your nightmares, of demonic hordes rampaging through Hell to assault fortresses built from the skulls of the innocent, seas of blood and lava lapping at blackened shores and gigantic gothic factories belching infernal smoke into a sky that is on fire.

Dare you walk through Hell itself?

Jeremiah RPG

Jeremiah is set in a dark and gritty version of our own near-future after every adult on the planet dies in the most virulent pandemic ever to strike the world. More than 6 billion people are killed in what was to be known as The Big Death. With disturbing tie-ins to current events, this post-apocalyptic setting will allow players to adventure in a world like our own with one twist - the characters have been forced to grow up in an often violent and chaotic world without adult guidance and supervision after having been witness to their parents and loved ones die a horrible death, along with 6 billion others. Technology, consumer goods and even food is now hard to come by; forcing players to use their wits just to survive. Jeremiah features an all too realistic and plausible explanation for how civilisation self-destructed and offers players an opportunity to rebuild a new world.

Macho Women with Guns ( D20 )

Macho Women With Guns jiggled its way onto the role-playing scene back in August 1988 thanks to the loose morals and poor character of Greg Porter of Blacksburg Tactical Research Centre. The cheaply produced and thin volumes sold bucket-loads and became a cult hit because of three very important factors.

1. It was as cheap as dirt.
2. It had loads of pictures of scantily clad women with huge breasts in it.
3. It had lots of guns.

Macho Women With Guns hit the role-playing demographic head on (adolescent, horny, poor social skills) and was a game, so did not qualify as pornography allowing horny teen gamers the world over to buy something titillating.

Mighty Armies

A new concept in miniatures gaming, Mighty Armies gives you a complete army, rulebook, dice, reference card and measuring aid in a single box, for an all new low price.

Slaine RPG (D20)

Welcome to Tir Nan Og, a land where ancient Celtic legends mingle with prehistoric fact, thousands of years ago, just after the end of the last ice age. Tir Nan Og is known as the Land of the Young, for very few of its people live to old age. The noble Tribes of the Earth Goddess keep their proud warrior traditions alive in northern Tir Nan Og, but are constantly threatened by the Fomorian sea-devils, the tribes of the evil Drune Lords, and the bloodthirsty Berserkers of Midgard. The gods and goddesses of the Land of the Young take a personal interest in its affairs, and it is quite possible to interact directly with them in their own lands, and even to call upon their aid on the battlefield.

The Sláine role-playing game allows players to take the role of mighty Celtic heroes exploring a land in which legends are real and a strong warrior can carve out a reputation that may last for millennia. As members of the Tribes of the Earth Goddess, they will be called on to raid or war against rival tribes, quest after ancient treasures, or defend their lands against invading sea-devils. Over the years they will build up their honour and reputation, until one day they might join the ranks of the tribe's most elite warriors, or even become tribal leaders themselves.

By playing the Sláine role-playing game, you can create a character who lives both in the magical land of Tir Nan Og and in your own imagination and that of your friends. One player will take the role of the Games Master, controlling the people and creatures who dwell within the land, whilst the other players will be either valiant heroes, wise druids, wily thieves or cunning witches. The Games Master sets Tir Nan Og before the other players, allowing them to explore everywhere from the frozen wastes of Lochlann to the north, to the magically drained Sourlands in the south and the territory of the evil Drune Lords beyond.

Stars Without Number

The year is 3200 and mankind's empire lies in ashes. The Jump Gates fell six hundred years ago, severing the links between the myriad worlds of the human diaspora. Now, the long isolation of the Silence falls away as men and women return to the skies above their scattered worlds. Will you be among them?

Stars Without Number is designed to provide game masters and players alike with the tools to carve out worlds of their own from the darkness of the interstellar void. Elegant and smoothly playable GM tools are provided for sandbox-style adventuring among the stars, and players are given fast and flexible systems for daring exploration and bold ambitions amid the far-flung worlds of a vanished human dominion. All the classic elements of stellar adventure have room to shine in Stars Without Number. Come make them your own!

Starship Troopers Roleplaying Game

Welcome to the Starship Troopers roleplaying game, featuring the Mobile Infantry, Arachnids and the struggle of Mankind for supremacy of the galaxy. Based on the original novel by Robert Heinlein, the two movies and the Roughnecks Chronicles animated series, this is a game of high octane excitement, danger and glory on the battlefields of far-off star systems.

By playing Starship Troopers, you can create a character who lives both in the far future as well as in your own imagination and that of your friends. One player will take on the role of Games Master, controlling the people and aliens who dwell in the galaxy, while the other players will play through a series of epic scenario and adventures that may start events that shake the entire galaxy. The games Master sets the scene for his players, whether they are on a ship of the Fleet or just landing with the rest of the Mobile Infantry on a hostile alien world.

The basic game will give players the chance to join the Mobile Infantry and serve the Earth but more advanced players might like to try their hand at Fleet Officers or even ordinary civilians, exploring the politics of the Citizens’ Federation. In short, there is a whole galaxy to explore!

WARS - Roleplaying Game

The time is the late 24th century. The place – the solar system of Earth, but drastically transformed. An alien-made rift in space and time has slashed across the system, and from this wound in the universe have come invaders, not just their troops and ships, but a world, Seyal, which bore with it two races, the arrogant, wraithlike Shi and their enemies, the brutal Quay. The rift brought with it something else…a strange, quantum energy which has granted certain select individuals exotic powers.

Five factions now war for control of the solar system – the Earthers, nationalistic, arrogant, and ruled by giant corporations; the Gongen, ascetic and group-oriented, descendants of those who fled the radiation-scarred wastes of Asia for the red sands of Mars; the Mavericks, freedom-loving individualists, pirates and rogues of the outer rim, who are as willing to modify their bodies as their vehicles; the Shi, alien and inscrutable, imperialistic and domineering; and the Quay, tribal, brutal and proud, former Shi slaves who rebelled and now wage war to destroy their former masters.

This universe of conflict and power was introduced in the Wars card game from Decipher. Now, you can step inside of it, become a character battling in the eternal conflict.

Wayfarers

A new system with an old-school feel, Wayfarers enables you to play a warrior, priest, wizard, ranger or rogue, or to create an entirely unique persona. With dozens of disciplines and proficiencies, four types of magic, and over 500 spells, the possibilities for characters are limited only by the player's imagination.

For the Game Master, Wayfarers provides hundreds of detailed creatures, items, optional rules, useful analysis and advice, and the vivid World of Twylos campaign setting.
