Aircraft have been a true labour of love for us as we decided almost eighteen months ago to do them but only if they were going to get done well. On the surface a plane and tank may seem similar but the process is so much more complicated for planes we have taken almost a whole year to go from starting the project to releasing them.
The end result has been worth the wait as the four planes we have produced give any FOW gamer all the planes they would ever need for the game. Given 2nd Ed also allowed us to fix how aircraft work as they were never very balanced they now play a more reliable part in the game.
The last issue to cover with the planes is that they are 1/144th scale and not 1/100th. The reason for this is simple. At 1/100th they dominate the table too much and overwhelm the other models. At 1/144th they look great and sit on their flying stands with enough presence to do the job but fit far better into the game.

FoW - Hurricane II C/D Flight (1/144th)
Auslaufmodell (keine Nachbestellungen mehr möglich)
The Hurricane was the first monoplane fighter to serve with Royal Air Force. It was designed by a team under Sydney Camm and was a logical progression from the Fury biplane. Its first flight was on November 6, 1935.
Hurricane II saw the introduction of a two-speed, single-stage supercharged 1,390 hp Merlin XX engine. Deliveries to the RAF began early in September 1940. The new Hurricane retained the same eight-gun wing as the Mk I.
It was however fitted with a strengthened fuselage able to acc... (vollständige Beschreibung)

FoW - Stuka JU87D/G Flight (1/144th)
Auslaufmodell (keine Nachbestellungen mehr möglich)
Thought its design seems somewhat clunky and old fashioned the Stuka provided good service to the Luftwaffe and her allies in the ground attack role. Despite the initial perception the Stuka included some innovative features, such as an automatic pull-up system to ensure that the plane recovered from a dive even if the pilot lost consciousness from the G-forces.
Its landing gear, while doing nothing for its aerodynamics, was very strong and allowed it to land on rough improvised airfields near ... (vollständige Beschreibung)

FoW - IL2 Sturmovik Flight (1/144th)
The Ilyushin-2 Shturmovik ground-attack aircraft was one of the most important Soviet combat aircraft of World War II, the Il-2 was a well-designed and effective aircraft, and was produced in great numbers.
In 1938, as the clouds of war gathered over Europe, a design request for an anti-tank aircraft was issued by the Soviet Government. A team under Sergei V. Ilyushin at the Soviet Central Design Bureau set about designing a two-seat aircraft designated the "TsKB-55". Two prototypes were produc... (vollständige Beschreibung)

FoW - Kittyhawk Flight (1/144th)
The P-40 fighter/bomber was the third-most numerous US fighter of World War II. Design work on the aircraft began in 1937, with a number of experimental versions tested before the first production version appeared in May 1940 (the Model 81).
By September 1940 over 200 had been delivered to the US Army Air Corps. A further 185 more were delivered to Britain in the second half of 1940. The British designated them the Tomahawk Mk I.
After initial combat experience a need for more armour was recog... (vollständige Beschreibung)

FoW - Typhoon IB (late) Flight

Hawker Typhoon
The Typhoon started life as a design as a replacement fighter for Hawker Hurricane in 1937. It proved disappointing in its initial testing. At low level the Typhoon was fast, but above 20,000 feet its performance fell off badly. Early prototypes suffered from a failure of the rear fuselage.
The Typhoon developed further problems in testing with carbon monoxide from the engine leaking into the cockpit, forcing pilots to wear an oxygen mask. The initial Napier Sabre engine was d... (vollständige Beschreibung)

Henschel Hs 129 " Panzerknacker" (1:144)
Following its involvement in the Spanish Civil War, the Luftwaffe, or German Air Force, decided that it needed a purpose-built close ground-attack aircraft.
A Henschel design eventually won the contract and the Hs 129 "Panzerknacker" (or, "Tank Buster") entered service in December 1941.
The first variants of the Hs 129 proved to be underpowered. After the fall of France, German engineers fitted a pair of French Gnome-Rhône 14M radial engines and the Hs 129 Panzerknacker began its stunning m... (vollständige Beschreibung)

P47 Thunderbolts
The P-47 Thunderbolt, or Jug as it was also called, was designed to take on the role of the aging US Army's P-40 Warhawk (known as the Kittyhawk in British and Soviet service). The heavily armed fighter excelled as a long-range escort fighter as well as an adept ground-attack plane.
By 1940 the army needed a dedicated heavy fighter to contend with the German fighters of the time. The aircraft was truly a monster from its not-so-humble beginnings. Powered by a massive Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Do... (vollständige Beschreibung)

with three FIAT CR.42 Falco aircraft, three plastic flight stands, one decal sheet and six rare earth magnets.
The Italian Regia Aeronautica (Royal Airforce) used the FIAT CR.42 Falco biplane in a ground attack role. The experienced Italian pilots, some of whom were veterans of the Spanish Civil War used the manoeuvrability of the small plane to their advantage when attacking targets and avoiding enemy fighters. The development of the Me 262 begun before the outbreak of the Second World War. Plans had been on the drawing board since April 1939; however delays in the development of the jet engine due to numerous teething troubles and lack of funding made progress slow.

with one Auster Observation aircraft and one plastic flight stand.
The use of aircraft in the role of an air observation post had its origins during the First World War. This tradition carried on during World War Two, where several American designed light aircraft were utilised in this role. These aircraft featured a tandem-cockpit accommodation which made them ideal for their roles as a reconnaissance aircraft. While the American force lent heavily on the L4 Grasshopper, the British relied ... (vollständige Beschreibung)

FoW - L4 Grasshopper Air Observation Post
The L4 Grasshopper was a useful addition to the US artillery batteries supporting the Allied war machine. They could fly above the battlefield and observe enemy movement and positions. After a short radio message back to fire control, HE rounds would begin landing on the enemy's head!
The light aircraft could hop over trees, hills and other obstacles and surpise the enemy. Before they could react the radio message giving away their position was already away and shells incoming!
