The illustrious and patrioticmen of the Soviet Udarny Strelkovy Batalon (or Shock Rifle Battalion, pronounced U-dar-ny Stryel-ko-vy Ba-ta-lon) have been fighting for Mother Russia with unparalleled zeal. They are ready to take the fight out of Russia and into Germany!

Included:
- 5x Command teams
- 4x Komissar teams
- 16x Rifle/MG teams
- 8x SMG teams
- 4x Anti-tank rifle teams
- 3x Sniper teams

The heroic workers and superior industrial might of the Soviet Union have guaranteed a steady supply of automatic weapons to the front line soldier. These brave soldiers are well equipped for offensive operations!

The Udarny platoons may not be as large as they were earlier in the war, but this is more than made up for by the bitter combat experience and deadly tenacity of the men.
In addition, the industrious workers of the Soviet Union produce thousands of PPSh submachine-guns and millions of rounds of ammunition each month. This means the Red Army can arm a whole company of soldiers with these deadly assault weapons for close-range combat.

In Flames Of War -
While other armies field companies, the Red Army fields entire battalions in Flames of War!

The Udarny Strelkovy Batalon will do well if you support them with the Red Army's new heavy equipment such as assault guns and heavy tanks. Having a couple of reliable Maksim heavy machine-guns and the encouragement of a Komissar also helps to get the job done!

Some of the special rule utilised by the men of the Udarny Strelkovy Batalon (in addition to the Soviet rules found on page 180-182 of the rulebook) are:
Guards Assault Battalion
The Udarny Strelkovy Batalon has been given the duty to break through the heavily fortified lines and open a route for the tanks to exploit and encircle the enemy.

An Udarny Strelkovy Batalon will always attack against any other Infantry Company in a mission with the Defensive Battle special rule.

Hardened Veterans -
Brutal fighting with grenades, bayonets, sharpened tools, and SMGs have taught these veterans how to survive the bloody assaults of the Eastern Front.
