Most German Panzergrenadier units were truck borne, relying on a variety of light trucks in the Kfz 70 class and occasionally the larger Opel Blitz, but an elite few were issued with the Schutzenpanzerwagon (SPW) Sd Kfz 251 C halftrack.
These troops were usually at the forefront of the Panzer Division's assault, keeping up with the sweeping blitzkrieg of the Panzers.
Armoured Panzergrenadiers first saw action during the Polish campaign of 1939, the new SPW being issued to the 1. Panzer Division.
As numbers of Halftracks were always short it was only the I. Battalion of the senior Panzergrenadier Regiment that became armoured, though the initial plan was to equip all the battalions.
A Panzergrenadier Battalion consisted of 3 Panzergrenadier Kompanies and a Schwere (Heavy) Kompanie.
Inside you get a full strength Armoured Panzergrenadier Platoon, with 4 Sd Kfz 251 Cs, including the 3.7cm gun for the command track, 6 MG teams and a Command MG team.
You also get seated crew and the new German Stalingrad decals.
